Decathlon is a French sports and leisure retailer founded in 1976. Today, the company is a world leader in sporting goods.
Decathlon arrived on the Canadian market in 2018 and decided to launch Decathlon Activities, a marketplace that offers sporting activities to their customers, organized by athletes and coaches in the community. Booxi supported the brand through this ambitious project, assisting with the planning and management of participants for these activities.
Decathlon wants to add a service layer to its offer and decides to launch a marketplace allowing its customers to participate in various sports activities. By leveraging their physical locations and creating sports facilities, they transformed their stores into a place to play and not just to buy.
To go a step further, these activities would also be accessible at a local park, gym or studio, or online through a video call. The coaches and athletes in the community would upload the services they offer and the availability, and the participants can browse the marketplace and sign up for the activity they wish to participate in.
The fact that Booxi offers a SaaS solution allowed Decathlon to quickly deploy an appointment scheduling solution for its customers. Secondly, given that Booxi’s solution has an accessible API, allowed Decathlon to build its interfaces and products on top of it.
The thing I liked most about Booxi was the team: they are driven and flexible, they listen carefully and are very attentive about our needs. Booxi is a flexible and agile company that allowed us to go fast on this marketplace development.
